Coast Dermatology uses the latest techniques in removal of tattoos. At the present time, we are using a Versipulse laser which can remove tattoos, even those with multiple colors. It takes several treatments with any laser system to adequately remove tattoos.

“How does it work?”
Lasers use an intense beam of light that scans over the area to be treated. The ink particles of the tattoo absorb the light and are broken up into tiny fragments. These fragments are then absorbed through your body’s natural cleansing mechanism. The result is a significantly lighter or complete removal of the tattoo.

“Is the procedure painful?”
Some patients would describe the sensation of the laser as a slight sting, like the snap of a rubber band, and a sunburn-like look and feel after the procedure. We do offer topical anesthetic creams and local anesthetic injections to numb the area prior to treatment.

“What is the cost?”
The cost of removal varies greatly depending on the size, color and location of the tattoo.
